Erectile Dysfunction and Smoking
By Kristy Annely
Whether people accept it or not, sex plays a pivotal role in a relationship and sexual dysfunctions can destroy even the most loving couple. However, when addressed in time and with proper treatment, even chronic cases of sexual dysfunction can be cured.
Erectile dysfunction or the inability to initiate or maintain an erection is the leading sexual dysfunction in men in the United States. Each year, despite the fact that more than thirty million men are diagnosed with the disorder, the majority of erectile dysfunctions go unreported. Until recently, erectile dysfunction was recognized as a metabolic issue and not a lifestyle related disorder. However, studies have brought to light that those lifestyle choices like substance abuse and smoking are responsible for over 25% of all erectile dysfunction cases.
Every erection problem is believed to be related to blood flow since erections occur when blood rushes in to the penis. Anything that interferes with this process is the likely cause of the dysfunction. Apart from the obvious damage to the respiratory system, smoking does considerable damage to the body's circulation. The carbon monoxide fumes from cigarettes bind with the hemoglobin in the blood and reduce its oxygen carrying capacity. The carbon particles also lead to the deformation of the heart valves and reduce the count of the red blood cells (RBCs). All these factors combine to complicate cardiovascular problems that cause the arteries to harden (arterioscelerosis) and reduce blood supply to peripheral regions, especially the genitals. Thus smoking is directly responsible not only for erectile dysfunctions, but also for low sperm counts, increased sperm mortality and loss of libido.
When erectile dysfunctions are smoking related, they cannot be completely cured with medications like Viagra. The situation is further worsened when the smoker has conditions like diabetes and heart troubles. The only remedy, although it might seem like the end of the world to most men, is to quit smoking. There are many programs available over the Internet and through de-addiction centers that the smokers can make use of. What is most important is that quitting smoking means more than just freedom from sexual dysfunction, it also means your general health will improve,

Why You Should Get Help To Quit Smoking
By Tony James R.
Are you avoiding or delaying to quit smoking? If you think that the only disease contracted from smoking is lung cancer, you may be wrong.
Apart of lung cancer, cigarette smoking is also one of the leading cause of heart disease.
The chemicals in cigarettes and tobacco and cause:
* Hardening of the arteries
* Damage to cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels
* Increase in blood clotting.
* Decreased oxygen to the heart.
* Increased blood pressure and heart rate.
Also, one of the following diseases will increase the risk of having a heart attack:
* High Cholesterol (blocks arteries, including the arteries of the heart)
* High Blood Pressure (commonly referred to as hypertension)
* Diabetes (impairs circulation)
* Obesity
* Couch potatoism (otherwise known as a "sedentary lifestyle")
In other words, the above diseases will cause your arteries to be clogged with poisons and plague. As a result, your heart have to pump harder than normal to push blood to circulate your entire body. Assuming that your heart is already at work harder than normal, smoking is nearly a invitation for a heart attack or stroke.
It is even worse if one is overweight. The risk increases drastically. This is not some small minor health problems. Nor we are talking about the small percentage of having a heart attack or stroke and survive. The issue here is about potential DEATH. Cigarette is within your willpower and control to overcome.
Thus, diet and weight loss are also as crucial as also seeking help to quit smoking. Your life and the lives of your loved ones lies in risk at your own actions.
For every pound that you gain, or every time you smoke, you are putting yourself in greater risk to contract disease. The more you avoid or delay in quitting smoking, you are killing yourself more and more slowly by the day. The power to take responsibility to quit smoking lies within yourself, so start taking action today.
Tony James is an ex-smoker for 15 years and is currently helping smokers to quit smoking with ease without the discomfort of cravings or withdrawal symptoms.

5 Big Reasons To Get Smoking Cessation and Weight Loss Help
By Marie Borges
Are you putting off smoking cessation? You may think that if you smoke, the only disease that you are at risk of getting is lung cancer (isn't that bad enough?). Guess again.
Did you know that cigarette smoking is one of the leading causes of heart disease? The chemicals in cigarettes, cigarette smoke and other inhaled tobacco products cause:
* Decreased oxygen to the heart.
* Increased blood pressure and heart rate.
* Increase in blood clotting.
* Damage to cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels
* Hardening of the arteries
In addition, if you have one of the following diseases, and you also smoke, you are at increased risk of having either a heart attack or stroke:
* Obesity
* Diabetes (impairs circulation)
* High Blood Pressure (commonly referred to as hypertension)
* High Cholesterol (blocks arteries, including the arteries of the heart)
* Couch potatoism (otherwise known as a "sedentary lifestyle")
In short, any of the above diseases either cause your arteries to become clogged with plaque, or cause your heart to work harder to push blood (and thereby nutrients and oxygen) through your body. Now, assume that your heart is already working beyond its full functioning capacity, or struggling to do so. Then add the hardening of the arteries and other harmful effects of cigarette smoking. You, my friend, are begging to have a heart attack or stroke. Add to this being overweight, and your risk then increases even more dramatically. We are not talking about a few minor health problems. We are not talking about the small percentage of those that have a heart attack or stroke and survive, some with complications, such as paralysis (by the way, can you be SURE you will be part of that percentage? And why take the risk?). We are talking about potential death. From what? Cigarette smoking and your weight, both factors that are completely within your control.
At this point, diet and weight loss are not just important, but CRITICAL. Equally as critical is getting help with smoking cessation. Your life, as well as the lives of your loved ones (if you smoke around them, i.e. second hand smoke), is at risk.
Every pound you gain, every time you smoke cigarettes (either directly or indirectly), puts you at greater risk for disease. The more you put off smoking cessation, the more at risk you put yourself. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own health. Some things about yourself you cannot change, such as your eye color, height, etc. Some things you do have control over: getting help to stop smoking is just one of these. Weight loss and a sensible diet are the others.

No Shortage of Family Actvities in Ruidoso, New Mexico
By Bob Huntington
Ruidoso, New Mexico is a lot of things to many people. A ski resort, a thriving horse racing destination and, more than anything, a great place to spend time with your family. And where can you find a more fun mix of activities and events for the kids than in Southern New Mexico!
Ruidoso has a wonderful assortment of activities for children of all ages. Enjoy horse back riding with four stables in town and one on the nearby Mescalero Apache Reservation. If it's fishing you're after the hot spots are at the Grindstone Dam, Mescalero Reservation and the mighty Rio Ruidoso River, stocked with plenty of good sized trout. Just be sure and have a local fishing license, easily obtainable at the local WalMart and Western Auto. If you don't catch anything there, head on past the racetrack to Seeping Springs Trout Pond. They furnish the gear, the fishin' hole and you only pay 50 cents an inch for what you catch no license required. Here's the very best part...they clean them for you! My daugther took the family and came back with 4 lovely 12+ inch trout all ready for the grill.
Naturally, being in the mountains of New Mexico there's plenty of hiking and nature. The Lincoln National Forest is a start with plenty of other diverse scenery nearby. If you're after more urban pursuits, Fun Trackers Amusements in Ruidoso has go karts, bumper boats and goofy golf. That's just for starters. Add in the history of the region and you've got a plateful.
Ruidoso has it's own historical spots. There's Dowlin's Mill where Billy the Kid stayed. Don't forget a stop at the Hubbard Museum of the American West for an enchanting look at the past for all ages.
Capitan, a scant twenty minutes from Ruidoso is home to the only American figure with their own zip code...Smokey Bear. The Smokey Bear Historical Park is packed with tips on preventing wild fires with plenty of interactive display for the children. There's a small theater with regular showings, an informative garden area with many types of indigenous flora and of course the final resting spot of old Smokey himself. Always a tear there it seems.
In Lincoln, only 30 minutes away you've got the hub of the Lincoln County Wars. Characters like John Tunstall, Sheriff Bob Ollenger and of course William Bonney who became better known as Billy the Kid. It's the bloodiest street in America...in any era...with a nice selection of museums, shops and original buildings. The classic Wortley Hotel which still operates seasonally and the Ellis Store, now a splendid bed and breakfast are just examples.
An hour south of Ruidoso is Alamagordo. Pay a visit to their zoo. Perhaps the really big screen calls from the IMAX theater. Mystified by the stars? The Space Museum is bound to enthrall. Don't forget the allure of the magical White Sands National Monument...all great reasons to make the 60 minute drive.
Only 75 minutes out is the infamous Roswell, home to UFO buffs from around the world. Is it a weather balloon or something else? The UFO Museum has their opinion on the matter. Check them out!
If it seems like there are a lot of things to keep the kids loving the area, well that's because there are! Frequently concerned parents who come to enjoy the race track or casinos ask, "Is there anything for the kids to do?". You bet!

Lowering Your Risks for Sleep Apnea
By Elizabeth Radisson
Sleep apnea is a troubling disorder that will affects your sleep as well as having some very negative consequences on your health and well-being. This disorder can affect someone at any age and is considered to be a degenerative condition when. When sleep apnea is left untreated, the condition can become much more serious. There are things that can be done to lower your risk of developing sleep apnea. Those that are high in risk factors are much more prone to develop this very difficult sleep disorder. There are certain methods people can use to keep their risk for sleep apnea down.
Staying or getting into good shape is an important element to reducing your risk for sleep apnea. Fatty tissues in the neck that are a direct result of being obese are the leading cause of sleep apnea. This excess tissue can obstruct the airway by putting weight on the esophagus, which can lead to sleep apnea. It has been determined that having a neck with a circumference of over 17 inches presents a significant risk for contracting sleep apnea.
The use of depressants also increases the risk of developing sleep apnea. Depressants such as alcohol and sleeping pills cause the throat muscles to relax giving way to a possible airway obstruction. Alcohol should be taken no sooner than four hours before bedtime for this reason creating a lower chance of snoring and sleep apnea at bed time.
Smoking can also contribute to developing sleep apnea. Smoking causes increased inflammation in the throat as well as fluid retention in the upper airway. These two conditions can represent a serious airway obstruction.
Some people that experience sleep apnea only do so when lying on their backs at night. A conscious effort to sleep on one's side can be made to help remedy the situation. Many different techniques may be attempted such as sleeping with a pillow behind your back to prevent you from rolling onto your back. Whatever your method is, find one that works for you and stick with it.
Some of the most serious risks for sleep apnea can be reduced by lifestyle changes. Other factors such as old age and a narrow air passage cannot be adapted for and are unavoidable risks. If you suspect that you have sleep apnea, get a proper diagnosis from a certified sleep lab and begin to take steps to reduce your risk.

Smoking and Gum Disease
By Milos Pesic
If you think that smoking and only have effect on the heart and lung, you better think again. Recent studies have proved that smoking and gum disease are connected. Although the connection of smoking and gum disease is very well known, experts had just recently done a national study to prove the connection between smoking and gum disease. Researchers say that although smoking is one of the risk factor of gum disease, it is the one factor that is influenced by the individual who have gum disease.
Lots and lots of opinions have come out regarding the connection of smoking and gum disease. The nicotine and smoke of tobacco can cause constriction of the blood vessels, thus, reducing the distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the gum tissue. Cigarette smoking or chewing spit tobacco can also reduce the ability of the body to fight infections. Another study also proves that smokers are more prone to specific bacteria that can cause more aggressive gum disease.
The impact of all the research is that smokers have the highest possibility to have gum disease (making ex smokers having the second highest probability and non smokers last). Former smokers and non smokers also have better response to treatment of gum disease than those individuals who still smoke, thereby concluding that, individuals with gum disease that stopped smoking have better chance of achieving success with gum disease therapy than those who did not. Individuals who are currently active in smoking are four times more apt to have gum disease.
Researchers say that the link that connect smoking and gum disease is very much apparent. Recent studies shows that fifty-five percent of the study subject that has gum diseases were current smokers and almost twenty-two percent were ex smokers. The current smokers that average more than one to one and a half pack of cigarettes per day have six times more apt to have gum diseases than the subjects who do not smoke. And those who consume less than a pack a day have three times more probability to have gum disease.
The linkage between smoking and gum disease is caused by the suppression of the immune system of the body because of the tobacco, which reduces its ability against infection. Smoking also slows down the healing process of the gum tissue because it restricts the growth of the blood vessels.
Currents smoker are known to have worse oral and gum condition than those who do not smoke. Quitting smoking and exercising regular oral hygiene routine is very important for the well being of your gums. You dont only save the physical condition of your teeth and gums; you also save your health. It is time that you throw away that vice and have a clean and healthy lifestyle.

Learning the Symptoms of A Broken Computer
By Bryan D. Applegate
If your car sputtered and coughed and began to emit smoke, you would know that something bad was going on with the car and it was likely to get worse. So why is it that computers just shut down with no warnings at all? Aha, that's just it; if you don't recognize the early warning signs of a computer that's having trouble, most any expensive problem can sneak up on you. While there will indeed always be problems that are too advanced for the common user to detect or repair, more problems exist that are detectable by that same common user.
Viruses, adware, spyware and 'botnets' all result in a host computer behaving strangely. Low air pressure, low coolant and bad gas all force strange behavior in cars. Most people would fret themselves silly until they saw a mechanic for the car's benefit and their own peace of mind. Computer glitches should also warrant such fret. Here are some terribly common warning signs you should be aware of:
* Let's begin by accepting that Windows should not freeze or tell us to wait (with that blasted hour glass) for insufferable periods of time repeatedly.
* When we turn our computers on, we should see the screens and application windows that we've specifically requested run with Windows start-up (either through installation settings or Start>[All] Programs>Startup Folder).
* Computers do not yet crave our attention. When new application windows randomly appear with any kind of message, something other than you is working to bring them up. Learn which application is responsible.
* If you have your speakers ON all the time, it is unacceptable to only sometimes or occasionally hear the start-up music and other times not hear the start-up music; you should always hear all sounds. For some reason, audio drivers are often the first to exhibit inconsistencies when something is wrong.
* If you could previously install a program at any time, you're an Administrator with full privileges; if Windows spontaneously revokes privileges denying access to vital Windows components like the Control Panel, your problem is already worse than you know.
* Finally, they have not made computers that should smell of hot dust or melting plastic; it's not a marketing gimmick. These flavors have proved unsuccessful in the ice cream market and actually indicate BIG trouble inside your computer.
When caught in time, most viruses, adware and spyware problems and 'botnet' instructions can be eliminated and their return can be prevented. Recognizing the warnings signs is as easy as using a computer often enough to familiarize yourself with its regular behavior. This provides a baseline. If the computer varies significantly from the baseline behavior often enough, note in what way the computer is acting strangely.
Physical symptoms typically indicate physical problems; if any four of your five senses can pick up on a computer's odd behavior, you might be looking, smelling, feeling or hearing (please don't taste your computer) the need for a physical repair. Behavioral problems tend to indicate software problems.
Computer problems come in two 'flavors': Hardware and Software. Hardware is a physical issue that might add the cost of a new piece of hardware. Software problems mainly involve labor costs which no technician should be deprived. Saying, it's just slow, isn't a clear enough diagnosis. Clicking hard drives and 'you do not have permission' Windows indicate two totally different problems though they can both be tied in with slower performance.
Hopefully you can use some of this advice to help your favorite technician better diagnose growing problems and keep them from getting too far out of control.
